Practice Limited to Endodontics

Procedures: Non-Surgical

Most root canal procedures are non-surgical, and involve removing the injured pulp through the top surface of the tooth. Once the infected tissue is removed, the canal(s) are cleansed and shaped to remove all traces of tissue and bacteria. Then a sterile, inert material is placed in the canals to seal the tooth and prevent reinfection. Finally, a temporary filling is placed in the access opening.

After the root canal procedure is completed at our office, your restorative dentist will usually seal the root canal access opening with a crown on back teeth or a filling on front teeth.
